How Can We Prevent Drink Driving?

Many high schools around the country do a great job on warning students about the dangers of drink driving by bringing in police officers to come and explain what they have witnessed first hand from these terrible tragedy's. A high school in America has a very different way of approaching this situation, they have had highway patrol officers come into their school and tell the students many of their classmates had been killed over the weekend due to drink driving related accidents. Students grieved over their dead classmates, later in the day it was revealed that in fact their classmates were not dead at all and that it was just a hoax to prevent the students from drink driving. Instead of trying to teach the students to be responsible with their drinking, they have used scare tactics to scare it out of them. I think that this method is very unethical and should not be used, instead they should be teaching students responsibility so they can make their own educated choices in the future. Also what you teach students can last a lifetime, scaring them on the other hand they would forget, possibly leading to dangerous decisions in the future.

Teenager Vs Adult

Experiments have shown despite the age difference, a teenagers brain can maintain better balance and hand eye coordination than an adult brain while being on the same level of intoxication. Although these experiments may say that a teenager is able to drink more before they are physically impaired, it is not always necessarily true that the teenage driver would be able to preform better than the adult driver.

Blame it on the A-a-a-a-a-alcohol...

Statistics show that it is almost certain that you or someone close to you is likely to be involved in a alcohol related car crash, in fact in a family of five, theirs a 200% chance that one of you may cause or be involved in a alcohol related accident, that's a terrible statistic. Why do people still do it? I think some people may find it hilarious seeing their Friends driving drunk not thinking of the consequences because they are also drunk, or maybe its the pride thing commonly found in teenage boys where the "I'm all good bro" syndrome comes in effect. This is where the person thinks they are able to drive, but are so proud to admit that they are drunk after only having two drinks, they insist on driving to save them the embarrassment. Although two drinks doesn't sound like much that's enough to put a teenager over the B.A.C (Blood alcohol limit), which is only 0.05% compared to an adult in New Zealand being 0.08%. If you are eighteen and think you will be tested in the adult category while being breathalyzed think again, you must be at least twenty one to be considered an adult so be careful.

Why Do People Drink and Drive?

Whats happnin my fellow bloggers... In this blog I'm going to try answer a question that's been on all of our minds, why do people, especially teenagers drink and drive? Now i know nearly every teenager has been in a situation where they've been in a car with a drunk driver... But why do they still get into the car? This is another fact that makes you wonder why, after seeing all the tragic deaths on the news and all the commercials featuring the now famous slogan "IF YOU DRINK THEN DRIVE YOUR A BLOODY IDIOT", people are still taking the risk. Some of these ads may be funny to some teenage drinkers for example the latest one features two young men coming home from a party, they've both had a few to drink and end up crashing into a ditch... check it out bellow.
